๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Your budget, after upcoming bills

How much can you actually spend today without going over budget?

Your bank balance tells you how much is in your account. Money Loom goes further: the app turns your disposable income into a daily budget.

You know exactly how much you can actually use, taking into account your upcoming bills and expenses.

What is disposable income?

Disposable income is the money you actually have available once your income and planned expenses are taken into account.

That's an important difference from the simple balance shown by your bank. Your account might show several hundred dollars while several bills still need to be paid.

The amount actually available for your daily expenses is therefore different from the balance shown on your account.

The idea behind the calculation
Income โˆ’ upcoming bills โˆ’ planned expenses = disposable income

Money Loom uses this principle to give you much more concrete information: how much can you reasonably spend right now?

Example: your account shows $1,200

You might think you have $1,200 to spend. But several bills still need to be taken into account.

Available balance $1,200
Rent and upcoming bills โˆ’ $700
Already planned expenses โˆ’ $32
Actually available $468
With 18 days left $26 / day

So it's not simply: "I have $1,200 in my account."

The question becomes: "How much can I spend today without jeopardizing the rest of the month?"

How Money Loom turns your disposable income into a daily budget

Money Loom doesn't try to replace your bank. It gives you different information: your spending margin.

1

๐Ÿ“ฅ Enter your income

Input your income and the elements that determine your month's budget.

2

๐Ÿ“… Add your bills

As a lump sum or in more detail: rent, subscriptions, insurance, loans, and other upcoming payments.

3

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Discover your margin

Money Loom calculates what's left and helps you know how much you can spend each day.

Your budget evolves with your expenses

The daily budget isn't a fixed number. When you add an expense, Money Loom updates your situation.

You spend $20 today? Your disposable income decreases. The amount available for the following days is then recalculated based on your new situation.

๐Ÿ’ก The goal isn't to tell you what to spend

Money Loom doesn't impose a budget on you. The app gives you clear information so you can decide with full knowledge.

You stay free to spend more today, less tomorrow, or change your allocation. The app simply shows you the consequences on your available budget.

๐Ÿ’Œ What about envelopes?

Envelopes aren't the starting point of Money Loom. They come on top of your disposable income to help you allocate your money between different categories.

Your disposable income is your overall margin. Envelopes then let you decide how to use that margin: groceries, gas, entertainment, clothes, emergenciesโ€ฆ

And when you want to increase an envelope, Money Loom first checks if the amount can be taken from other envelopes.

If you allow it, envelopes can work like communicating vessels: you choose which envelopes can supply the needed amount.

If the other envelopes aren't enough, Money Loom warns you that the rest will be taken from your disposable income.

You stay in control of every transfer.

A reminder before you exceed your envelopes

Envelopes aren't just for categorizing your expenses. You can also set an alert threshold.

For example, you create an envelope of $100 with a reminder at $20 left.

When your envelope drops to $20, Money Loom warns you.

Example

๐Ÿ’ต Envelope: $100

๐Ÿ”” Alert threshold: $20

You've spent $80. $20 is left.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Money Loom then displays a reminder to tell you you're approaching the limit.

Disposable income and daily budget are at the heart of Money Loom. But the app also brings together the tools you need to track your budget every day.

Why use Money Loom if you already have your banking app?

Your banking app is essential for checking your account and making transactions. Money Loom isn't meant to replace it.

The role is different. Your bank shows you, among other things, your balance and transactions. Money Loom helps you answer a different question:

"How much can I spend now without compromising my budget?"

That's the decision margin Money Loom tries to make visible.

And for that, you don't need to give a third-party app access to your accounts. You enter the necessary information yourself.

It's intentionally manual: you choose what you record.

๐Ÿ”’ Your budget stays on your phone

Money Loom is designed to work without a bank connection and without relying on a cloud to store your budget.

  • No bank account to connect.
  • No Internet needed to view and manage your budget.
  • Your financial data stays on your phone.
  • You can export your data.

You keep control of your financial information.
